Morelle McCane, a promising boxer from Cleveland, is determined to win gold at the Paris Olympics. With a mix of confidence and determination, Smith outlined her expectations and aspirations for the upcoming games in a recent uInterview.

When asked about her expectations for the Paris Olympics, Smith was clear and direct. “I expect to win gold. I expect to eat some good crepes. And I expect the energy to just be live, like up there,” she said.

Smith feel proud to continue the tradition of boxers from her city. “That would be a dream come true. For the last five Olympics, we’ve had someone from Cleveland, and now it’s the first girl, and no one’s brought home a medal. And now it’s just like it’s my time to shine; it’s my time to bring home the gold, so I’m excited,” she explained.

Smith began her boxing career at 12, inspired by her older brother, a boxer. She quickly rose through the ranks, winning multiple national championships and earning a spot on the U.S. national team. Known for her powerful punches and tactical approach, Smith has built a reputation as a formidable opponent in the ring. Her hard work and commitment to boxing have been crucial to her success.

Winning a gold medal means more than just a personal victory for Smith. She hopes her success will inspire more women in boxing and contribute to a growing legacy. “We haven’t had gold in women’s boxing since Claressa [Shields], a two-time Olympic medalist. Shoutout to her. That would be amazing. We need it in another weight class, and we need multiple ladies. We just need the list to keep going,” Smith said. She emphasized the importance of adding more female names to the list of Olympic gold medalists, traditionally dominated by men.

When asked about her technique, she replied, “I’m looking to hurt her. I’m looking to beat her up. Listen, we’re playing chess, so I have to use the best strategy to win a fight. So, girl, I’m gonna beat you up.”
