Pastor John Hagee wrote Four Blood Moons: Something Is About To Change – a book that asserts his belief that God-created events in the skies directly correlate with major events down on Earth – which was recently adapted for the big screen.

Four Blood Moons, produced by Hagee and Rick Eldridge and directed by Kieth Merrill, explores the contentious theories that Hagee puts forth in his book. The feature-length film primarily focuses on the creation of the State of Israel, with a large amount of credit given to God and the higher power’s purported creation of blood moons.

“A blood moon is when the sun shines through the Earth’s atmosphere onto the moon and it causes the moon to have a blood red appearance. Being in a direct alignment is something that only God can do,” Hagee told uInterview in an exclusive interview.

“They relate to the State of Israel and the Bible because each of these blood moons appears either on Passover or the feast of tabernacles,” Hagee added, speaking of the last four blood moons. “Those are on exact dates that God himself established in the Old Testament thousands of years ago. Only God can get the Earth, the sun, and the moon in an alignment on a specific day that he predicted thousands of years ago. That is the unique mystery of this film and of this book.”

Hagee is dismissive of comparisons between the astronomy he claims to study and astrology, the study of the stars that results in horoscope signs and readings.

“The difference between astrology and astronomy is that astrology is a false science. Astrology leads to the worship of the stars,” Hagee says. “Astronomy is the study of the stars by which sailors have been crossing the ocean for centuries. It is a specific science that has great value to the planet. The bible says, God speaking, that he calls the stars by name. So there’s a difference between worshiping the stars and worshiping the god who created the stars. An entirely different thing. ”

Though Hagee sees little connection between astronomy and astrology, particularly in terms of blood moons, he does see a strong and enduring connection between Christians and the Jewish people of Israel. Quoting Bible verses, the Christians United For Israel head says that Christians were destined to help the Jewish people.

“The connection between Christians and Israel is the Bible. […] Christians are to speak up and to defend the state of Israel. Not to speak is to speak. To see evil and not call it evil, is evil,” said Hagee. “The Jewish people have given to us the patriarchs, the Old Testament prophets. They have given to us the word of God. They have given to us the first family of Christianity: Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. The twelve apostles and Saint Paul. If you take away the Jewish contribution from Christianity, we wouldn’t exist. That’s the connection between Christianity and the Jewish people.”

For Hagee, taking the ideas espoused in his best-selling non-fiction book and tailoring them for the Four Blood Moons movie wasn’t difficult. The pastor, chastising the modern world for its “chaos” and being “upside down,” wants the movie to alert audiences to the power of the god in whom he believes. Vaguely warning of the end of days, Hagee says it’s a time to rejoice.

“It wasn’t a challenge to bring the message from the book to the screen because the message about the book is about the contribution the Jewish people have made to the world, and especially Christianity, and the hope that we have as believers that in this world of chaos, in a world that’s upside down, in a nation that is losing its sense of direction, that God almighty is still in charge,” said Hagee, adding, “He knows the end from the beginning and he’s told us when you see these signs in the heavens, don’t run to the cabinet and start swallowing Tylenol. Lift up your heads and rejoice; your redemption draweth nigh.”
