Former Denver Bronco’s quarterback John Elway talks exclusively with Uinterview.com back fantasy football and his picks for the new season.

Q: Fantasy Football has become a nationwide phenomenon. Why do you think it’s so popular?

A: I think it’s entertainment. I think that people really enjoy it once they’ve learned about it and more people learn about exactly what it is and get involved each year so it’s just snowballed. I think people really enjoy the entertainment value and being connected to the NFL and also being in a position where they can be their own fantasy team and be their own general manager. I think they get that experience of what it would be like when you go through a draft and then week in and week out who you’re starting and who you’re not and having to make those decisions, I think that people really enjoy that. Plus the homework that everybody does and getting to know the new players in the NFL as well as the old players that are established, it keeps people really involved and I think they like that.

Q: If you do have a Fantasy Football team, what were your top five picks this year?

A: It all depends on what kind of league you’re in, whether it’s running back or quarterback. The league I’m in is more about quarterbacks so our first five picks were Romo and Brady and Manning and Briese, so they were the top five quarterbacks of the ones that were picked.

Q: Who do you think are the most overvalued and undervalued players in Fantasy Football this year?

A: That’s hard to say, especially this early in the year. I think after the first week you have the guys that you have high hopes for. As I said, my quarterback didn’t have a good week and my running back is Steve Slaton who didn’t have a good week and so to be able to say that at this point in time I think is a little bit early. Plus one of the picks, Gonzalez, got hurt and he’s gonna be out six to eight weeks so that’s a guy that we had on our draft that we had high expectations for him and now he’s gonna be out six to eight weeks so I think it’s a little early to tell.

Q: For this season, who do you think the most underrated and overrated players and teams are? And what’s your prediction for the season?

A: I’ve never been asked who’s the most over-rated – always who I thought was going to win. The most overrated player to me is Brett Favre. He’s a guy who’s still a good player, but I don’t think he has the tools that he used to have, I think it’s a good place for him in Minnesota, but I think with the hullabaloo we’ve seen with him year after year after year. He’s the person who comes to mind. [As for teams,] I would say the Chargers. They’ve got a good quarterback in Phil Rivers- a guy who can take them all the way. I’m an AFC guy so I’m going with the Chargers.
