Burkely Duffield On ‘Beyond’, Superpowers And His Petrifying Stunts [VIDEO EXCLUSIVE]

Burkely Duffield, star of the new Freeform series Beyond, opened up to uInterview about the show, his character and petrifying stunts he had to perform on set. “Beyond is centered around my character Holden, and he goes into a coma for a dozen years and miraculously wakes up when he’s 25,” Duffield said of the show’s premise.

When Holden awakens, he not only has to adjust to an unrecognizable world, but has to get used to new superpowers he has somehow been endowed with. It’s unclear what Holden’s exact superpower are, and Duffield was relatively tight-lipped about his character’s abilities.

He did, however, give us some clues. “Through these surges of emotion, he’s able to manipulate the energy and world around him in these certain ways,” Duffield said somewhat cryptically, before adding: “I won’t give away exactly what he can do, but it does get pretty intense.”

Which superpower does he wish he had?  “If I could grab the remote from across the room, or click my fingers and the dishes are done, that’d be pretty cool,” said the actor.

The show required the 24-year-old Duffield to perform various difficult stunts. “I had to do a stunt once where I had to jump off of a, I think it was like a dozen to 15 feet, so it was this platform, and I had to run off the side and go onto this big crash mat at the end, so that was pretty cool.”

He wasn’t afraid to admit, however, of freezing up from fear before doing some stunts. “You get up there, and you look down, and your body goes, ‘Nope! That’s not me.'” Duffield said, laughing. “It’s completely safe, but it takes you a little minute to get adjusted to it.”
