Season two of TruTv’s comedy series, Tacoma FD, premiered Thursday, and the show’s stars, Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, shared their most memorable scene from the season – being wrapped up in a boa constrictor together.

The show follows a fire brigade from Takoma, Washington, one of the rainiest cities in America, where firefighters have a lot of free time on their hands.

“My favorite scene right now is probably the scene where Kevin and I are wrapped up in a boa constrictor, which is based on a true story,” Lemme said. “And we’re nose to nose, and mustache to mustache, and I’m laying down and Kevin has all his weight on top of me. In real life, he went on to cracking one of my ribs while we filmed that scene. he continued, while Heffernan laughed. Heffernan joked that this was a “near-death experience” for Lemme.

“First we started off with a fake snake, and then we brought in the real snake, and when the real snake came into the scene our performances drastically improved because we were terrified,” Lemme said. Heffernan added that working with a snake entailed hoping “that he didn’t eat you.”

Heffernan plays Chief Terry McConky and Lemme plays “second in command” Captain Eddie Penisi. They say their great comedic chemistry on the show comes from their ensemble work.

“In the movies that we made, like Super Troopers and Beer Fest in the past, it was always kind of an ensemble thing,” Heffernan said. “These other firefighters are just great, they’re all kind of comedy generators they all have a great sense of creating jokes on the fly and improvising.”

“We got together and everything kind of clicked, and they’re all super funny and great to work with,” he continued.

Watch Tacoma FD on Thursdays at 10 p.m. on TruTV.
