Rick Springfield became an 80s sensation with his hit song "Jesse's Girl" and is now making waves again with his new autobiography, Late Late at Night, and a nude scene on Californication.
Born in Australia in 1949, Springfield recognized his passion for music at a relatively young age. Picking up his first guitar and learning how to play at the ripe age of 13, Springfield formed his own band Icy Blues when he was just in high school. Springfield later left school to join the band Moppa Blues as a guitarist and his musical career took off from there. He joined several bands later in his future, including Zoot, well known for their hit single The Freak, in 1971.
Springfield gained even greater popularity for his role as Dr. Noah Drake in
General Hospital. He quickly became a
General Hospital fan favorite, known for playing his part as a playboy and later on in the series, an alcoholic after he loses his wife. He went on for another star turn as James Roberts in the musical drama
Hard to Hold released in 1984 playing a struggling pop rock star.
Despite taking a much lower profile, Springfield is still acting — recently in several episodes of the television series Californication on Showtime. In one scene on the show, Springfield strips naked for the camera. "I knew what kind of show it was, and I knew what I was getting myself into," Springfield told Uinterview exclusively. "I don’t have any problem with being naked. I think you either have a problem being naked or you don’t."
