Tucker Carlson Says He Was ‘Surprised’ But ‘Wasn’t Mad’ About Being Fired By Fox News

Tucker Carlson, who was fired by Fox News in April for sending racist texts, says he “wasn’t mad” about his dismissal but was “surprised.”

“This is not the first time I’ve been fired. And I think in our business, when you work for a big company in media and you know, you say what you think, there’s an expectation that you could get fired,” Carlson told Russell Brand on his podcast. “I’ve always had that, and I’ve always tried to take the long view, not just on media, but on life. All graves go unvisited in the end. I always think that. So I was surprised; I didn’t expect to get fired that morning at all in April. So I was shocked, but I wasn’t really shocked and I wasn’t mad.”

Since his firing, Carlson has used his Twitter platform to recreate his show. Apparently, his new show has become a competitor for Fox News.

Fox sent a cease-and-desist letter because Carlson has a contract that states Fox will continue to pay him until December 31, 2024, only if they have exclusive access to his content. Because Carlson is reporting his show from his Twitter account, he is violating the contract he has with Fox.

The letter sent to Carlson is labeled with “NOT FOR PUBLICATION.”

Carlson is arguing that Fox has also violated the contract and that it is within his First Amendment right to post on Twitter.

Carlson’s lawyer, Harmeet Dhillon, stated, “Fox News continues to ignore the interests of its viewers, not to mention its shareholder obligations.”

IN MEMORIAM 2022: 100 GREAT CELEBRITIES WHO DIED IN 2022

She continued on to say, “Doubling down on the most catastrophic programming decision in the history of the cable news industry, Fox is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election.”

She ended the statement by asserting that, “Tucker will not be silenced by anyone.”

Tucker’s new show is called Tucker on Twitter and the first episode, which is about ten minutes long, aired on June 6. He spoke about the Russian and Ukrainian war and made a claim without any evidence to back it up. He stated that Ukrainian troops attacked a dam that belonged to Russia – experts believe that it was Russia that blew up the dam. He also used antisemitic terms to discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

His second episode aired on June 8, which he named “Cling to your taboos!” In this episode, he attacks Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. He makes a series of claims against them that have no evidence to back them.
