Rapper Travis Scott stopped his Coney Island July 4 concert after fans started to dangle from the venue’s trusses. He had stopped and was seen waving toward security.
“Hey, yo, listen, we need y’all to get down,” the singer’s employee said. “If that s–t collapses, bro, it will be a bad vibe. We do not need that right now.”
Videos posted to social media show a large group of people hanging onto the truss when it started to lean down. Another fan can be seen dangling off the tress by his feet.
The Astroworld rapper can be seen on stage and even falling toward fans while looking directly at the people climbing up the truss. He continues to perform for at least 40 seconds before stopping to address the issue.
“My brother, my brother, just make sure you’re okay there, my brother,” Scott was heard saying, followed by “Come on, man.”
Along with the tress situation, many other concertgoers also were getting rowdy. People were seen moving barriers and going onto high platforms to get a better view of Scott.
Scott had to stop again before he even began performing, waving at fans and telling them to ‘back up’ before he started again.
Scott faces multi-billion dollar lawsuits for the Astroworld tragedy in November 2021, where 10 concertgoers died during a crowd surge. In a lawsuit filed in May, Scott’s Houston performance is accused of injuring almost 5,000 people, with 732 being listed as severely injured.
