Taryn Manning, who plays Pennsatucky on Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, took to Twitter to address false reports that suggested she’d been criminally charged for violating a restraining order.

Taryn Manning Hits Back At Reports

Manning had apparently been arrested Thursday for making criminal threats against her former close friend Jeanine Heller, TMZ had reported. The report went on to state that the actress had violated a mutual domestic retraining order by allegedly threatening to kill Heller via text messages. Manning was allegedly arrested and cited for contempt of court for not attending a hearing on the matter earlier in the week.

Not long after the reports hit the Internet, Manning tweeted, “There are no charges against me. This is just further harassment. It is troubling that the system can be used to abuse the actual victim.” In another tweet that has since been deleted she wrote, “I could go on any media outlet and tell the real story but I’d rather save my time and energy for things that really matter. All will unfold.”

Manning has left up two tweets that slam TMZ for not getting the full story and mocks the idea that anyone can call them up and get a false story published.

In addition to Manning refuting the reports in her own words, her attorney Stacy Richman released a statement on her behalf, revealing that the DA ultimately chose not to prosecute her and that the arrest was voided.

“The District Attorney declined to prosecute Ms. Manning and the arrest was voided,” told Entertainment Weekly. “The allegation was false. It is unfortunate that additional false allegations by an individual convicted of violating orders of protection intended to protect Ms. Manning are facilitated by purported news organizations to perpetuate the harassment of Ms. Manning exponentially.”
