SNL’s Pete Davidson Calls Chevy Chase A “Genuinely Bad, Racist Person”

Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson went after show alum Chevy Chase on Monday during an interview on The Howard Stern Show.

Davidson took offense to Chase claiming that show went “downhill” after it’s first two years on air.

“He’s a f—— douchebag,” Davidson, 24, said. “F— Chevy Chase. He’s just a genuinely bad, racist person and I don’t like him. He’s a putz.”

Davidson also defended his boss, Lorne Michaels, who created the late-night comedy show. Chase had previously told The Washington Post he was amazed Michaels “had gone so low.”

“It’s disrespectful to Lorne, too, a guy who gave you a career,” said Davidson. “No matter how big you get, you can’t forget what that guy did for you.”

This wasn’t the first time Chase has been called racist. In a March 2018, Donald Glover profile by The New Yorker, it was said that Chase attempted to “disrupt Glover’s scenes” and made insensitive jokes between takes while the pair were on Community together.

Chevy said in a statement to The New Yorker: “I am saddened to hear that Donald perceived me in that light.”

He also made headlines in 2012 after he allegedly used the N-word during an argument with series creator/writer Dan Harmon. Production was stopped because of it and Chase was later reportedly forced to issue an apology.

“What’s he done since ’83? Nothing. He had a big career and then it stopped because everybody realized he’s a jerkoff. He should know more than anybody,” Davidson said

Chase, who made an appearance at SNL‘s 40th Anniversary Special in 2015, won three Emmy Awards for his time on the show. He starred in the show during it’s first two seasons.
