Soul singer P.P. Arnold has accused musician Ike Turner of raping her in the 1960s.
Arnold, 75, unfolds the story in her new memoir, Soul Survivor, and in the book, she claims Turner, 76, sexually assaulted her in a hotel room.
“What can I say? It was awful. I despised Ike on that level, but I didn’t know how to express myself. I was told Tina wanted to get rid of me because Ike was after me. If I had run to Tina or called my parents, it would have meant I would have (had) to come home,” she wrote.
Arnold started her career in music as an Ikette with Tina Turner and Ike. She also had a career as a solo artist releasing hit songs like “The First Cut Is the Deepest” and “Angel of the Morning.”
Turner famously abused Tina during their marriage which ended in divorce – and many songs about healing. died in 2007.
