If you’re done playing Pokemon Go! and still need a Pokemon fix you’re in luck. The first trailer for Detective Pikachu was just released.
Ryan Reynolds, fresh from Deadpool 2, is an odd choice to voice the iconic, animated character in the first ever live-action Pokemon film.
The trailer takes place in Ryme City, located in the same universe as the games. When Tim, played by Jurasic World star Justice Smith, has to find his cop father, there’s only one person who can help him. It turns out it’s his dad’s old partner, Pikachu. Though, he’s just excited someone can understand him.
“I’ve been so lonely,” he says in the trailer.
The movie, directed by Rob Letterman, hits theaters on May 10, 2019.
The trailer itself is number two on YouTube’s trending section and has garnered over 27 million views in under three days. That hasn’t stopped Twitter from corrupting it with parodies.
Video editor Dolan Dark remixed the trailer and made some changes. In the new version, he dubs in Alt-Right figure Alex Jones as Pikachu’s voice. This is Jone’s biggest impact on Twitter since he was banned from the platform and Facebook.
