Dead pilot whales were found at Macquarie Harbor in Strahan, Australia on Sept. 24. Teams of rescuers are now attempting to save hundreds of whales that are stranded in the harbor. Since Monday, about 270 pilot whales were beached on a sandbar on Tasmania’s west coast. Then, on Wednesday, 200 more whales were discovered on another sandbar further west, which has made this beaching incident one of the world’s largest recorded stranding events ever.
