Singer Peabo Bryson, known for his soaring R&B ballads, is stable after suffering “a mild heart attack” on last week.

In short statement the rep for the “Whole New World” and “Beauty and the Beast” singer said, Bryson “is currently listed in a stable condition and is awake and responsive. Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery.”

During the 70s and 80s, Bryson scored 17 Top 20 R&B hits and released three different gold-certified albums. In the 90s, he began reaching new audiences due to collaboration with Disney. In the 00s, he has only released one album.

Recently, he returned to the studio with with the legendary songwriting and production duo Jam & Lewis and an interview with Rolling Stone, the singer assured fans that he is not done making hits.

“I look back at my career and I go, ‘Well, I survived it long enough to achieve some lifetime-achievement awards, but what’s the point in all of that? That kind of indicates that you reached some kind of pinnacle, or that you’re done, and I’m far from any off that.” he explained.

Despite his long absence, his song “Love Like Yours and Mine” became a top 5 R&B hit. The singer believes the track connected with those listeners who are against modern romance.
