Executors of Prince’s estate are upset with President Donald Trump’s staff for playing the late singer’s song, “Purple Rain” during Trump’s rally Minneapolis. Video footage of one of Trump’s rallies has surfaced showing the attendees waving their hands and dancing along to the iconic song.
Not long after the video was posted, Prince’s team took to Twitter to issue a statement, requesting that the President cease all use. A formal statement was issued stating, “President Trump played Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ tonight at a campaign event in Minneapolis despite confirming a year ago that the campaign would not use Prince’s music. The Prince Estate will never give permission to President Trump to use Prince’s songs.”
Throughout Prince’s career, he was vigilant about the unauthorized use of his music. He was also known for his avoidance of taking stances on political issues.
