Prince Willian Saddened By Rift With Prince William: ‘We’re Separate Entities’

After last week’s surprising announcement from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, that they were stepping back from royal life, Prince William, the brother of Prince Harry, was saddened by the couple’s decision. William reportedly said that, “I’ve put my arm around my brother all our lives and I can’t do that anymore; we’re separate entities.”

The royal couple announced the decision on Instagram. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” they wrote. The couple went on to explain that this ‘step back’ will involve splitting their time between the United Kingdom and Canada. A reason for the withdrawal from royal life given in the post was the creation of a “charitable entity.” What this charity might entail is hard to say, although Prince Harry has lent his time to wide array of charitable causes in the past.

Despite the royal couple’s official claims, there are rumors that the couple stepped back from their roles due to a “bullying attitude” from within the royal family. It is alleged from anonymous friends of the couple that the source of this bullying is Prince William, and that he supposedly was unfriendly towards the Duchess. The Royal Family, however, denies this to be the case. Prince Harry and Prince William released a joint statement, saying, “Despite clear denials, a false story ran in a UK newspaper today speculating about the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge.”

Regardless of the actual cause for the couple’s decision, the royal family has been blindsided by the news. It is reported that Queen Elizabeth had explicitly asked Harry not to step back from his duties to the royal family.
