Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently filming scenes for their upcoming documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey. As a part of the documentary, ITV News has interviewed the couple, in which it opens up about life in the royal limelight.
Harry revealed to reporter Tom Bradby that living in the spotlight has been an emotional toll on him and every time he sees a camera flash he remembers the death of his mother, Princess Diana. The beloved Princess of Wales died back in 1997, leaving behind her two sons, Prince William and Harry. She was in a fatal car crash in Paris.

Back in September the Duke of Sussex followed in his mother’s footsteps and took a 10-day trip to the very same minefield his mother once explored in Angola. “Being here now, 22 years later, trying to finish what she started, will be incredibly emotional. But everything I do reminds me of her,” he said. :But as I said, with the role, with the job and the sort of the pressures that come with that, I get reminded of the bad stuff, unfortunately.”
Markle has also opened up about newfound struggles as a royal member and new mother. The former Suits actress has gotten much media attention and scrutiny over the years and admits “Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant — you’re really vulnerable. So that was made really challenging. It’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
As times have been hard during her adjustment from Hollywood actress to Duchess of Sussex, she confesses that things have not been okay. Her husband defends her and states “I’ve seen what happens when someone I love is commoditised to the point that they are no longer treated or seen as a real person. I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”
The documentary is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on October 23 at 10 p.m. ET and will be hosted by Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts.
