Police Rush To R. Kelly’s Apartment After Receiving Alleged ’Suicide Pact’ Call

On Tuesday evening, Chicago police rushed to R. Kelly’s Trump Tower condo after receiving a call that his girlfriends were attempting to carry out a “suicide pact.”

In the police radio call which was shared online, a dispatcher, who received the anonymous call can be heard telling the officers that the R&B singer’s girlfriend Azriel Clary and “four other women, who are victims of R. Kelly are planning to carry out a suicide pact at one of the condos at Trump Tower.”

Just before 5:30 p.m. the emergency responders arrived at the scene and conducted a wellness check.

“Police received a call from an out of state anonymous caller stating that people at the location were going to carry out a suicide pact. Police on scene conducting a wellness check and it is not a bonafide incident,” the Chicago Police Department said in a statement.

“It is offensive that anyone gives this any credibility” Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg told People of the alleged “suicide pact.”

This isn’t the first time that a possible suicide pact between Kelly and his girlfriends were mentioned, as just before the release of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly series in January, one of the alleged victims, Lizzette Martinez, claimed that the 52-year-old had a suicide pact with the women living in his house.

“I was the beginning of the predatory behavior. I was… I met him after he married Aaliyah. I had it bad but what I hear today is that he’s taking this to a whole other level and I’m so worried about the young women in the house,” Martinez told People at the time.

“I mean my anxiety is constantly through the roof because I hear the parents, I hear there’s a plan in place. That he’s put it in place that if something goes down they’re all going to take pills and kill… I just can’t,” she continued.

“I just don’t understand it and I’m so worried about them. It just breaks my heart. I’m so angry with him,” Martinez added.

Last week, Clary and Kelly’s other girlfriend Joycelyn Savage came to his defense during an interview with Gayle King on CBS This Morning, claiming that they were in consensual relationships with the singer and were happy. But Savage’s parents later told King that they still believe that their daughter has been brainwashed by Kelly and is constantly being coached and monitored.

But in an emotional clip from the interview, both women denied their parents claims. “I’m crying because you guys don’t know the truth,” Clary said to King “You guys are believing some f—ing facade that our parents are saying. This is all f—ing lies for money, and if you can’t see that, you’re ignorant and you’re stupid.”

Clary’s parents Alice and Angelo, who were interviewed in the documentary-series Surviving R. Kelly, claiming they hadn’t spoken to their daughter for nearly three years, are still hoping to arrange a face-to-face meeting with their daughter and are planning to bring a psychologist along to evaluate her.

Meanwhile, Kelly is expected to appear in court on Wednesday in Chicago for his child support case. His ex-wife, Drea Kelly, is also due to appear in court.

Last week, Kelly was arrested for failing to pay over $161,000 owed to Drea in child support but was later released from the Cook County jail after making the payment.

Regarding his sexual abuse charges, Kelly is due back in court on March 22. Last month, he was charged with 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse after new allegations surfaced against him. Which include three women who claim they were minors when Kelly assaulted them.
