New York City Medical Examiner Barbara Sampson Confirms Jeffrey Epstein’s Death Was A Suicide, Doubters Claim It Was A Homicide

Jeffrey Epstein, 66, made headlines when he was convicted as a sex offender. The teacher-turned-financier had been charged and arrested on federal charges for sexually abusing underage girls and sex trafficking minors. His last arrest was on July 6, 2019, which landed him in the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Now, the former financier is making headlines again after his death. He died on August 10, 2019, but his cause of death has yet to be agreed upon.

Epstein was found dead in his jail cell with broken bones in the neck area. There has been speculation as to just how Epstein died. While some believe his death to be a homicide, others, including New York City’s chief medical examiner are sure that it was a suicide.

According to Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson, the manner of his death was hanging, which means suicide. In agreement, Dr. Lawrence Kobilinsky at John Jay College of Criminal Justice also stated that “the hyoid bone is a weak, fragile structure, and it can break from a hanging. A fractured hyoid bone does not necessarily indicate a homicide.”

On the other hand, Dr. Michael Baden, a former New York City medical examiner, has argued that the injuries found on Epstein’s corpse are consistent with those of a fatal assault.

Sampson stands by her findings and has stated, “Our investigation concluded that the cause of Mr. Epstein’s death was hanging and the manner of death was suicide. We stand by that determination.”
