Mod Sun Proposed To Avril Lavigne With Major Diamond Ring At Eiffel Tower

After dating for a little over a year, musician Mod Sun proposed to girlfriend Avril Lavigne in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris in late March. They confirmed the engagement after Lavigne was photographed entering a recording studio with a sizable diamond ring on her ring finger.

Mod Sun shared a photo on Instagram of the moment he was on one knee and even composed some rhyming couplets for the caption. “The day I met I knew you were the one. Together forever til our days are done,” it began.

Mod Sun, full name Derek Ryan Smith, most recently had a whirlwind relationship with Bella Thorne, which began as a polyamorous partnership with her and Tana Mongeau. After entering a monogamous relationship, Mod Sun and Thorne got engaged, married and divorced all in a 15-month period.

Lavigne has been married twice before all to fellow musicians. From 2006 to 2009, Lavigne was married to Deryck Whibley from the band Sum 41. She and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger were also married from 2012 to 2015.
