Madonna Kicks Off Pride Weekend With Surprise NYC Club Performance

Madonna kicked off LGBTQ Pride Month festivities with a surprise performance at the Boom Boom Room at the Standard, High Line Hotel on Thursday night.

The Queen of Pop emerged from the crowd at 1:30 a.m., with her boyfriend Ahlamik Williams, and sang her classics “Hung Up” and “I Don’t Search I Find” as she traipsed around the bar rocking a short blue bob and a fishnet bearing top with mini leather shorts.

The singer shared a glimpse of what lucky fans who happened to be there were able to experience.

Madonna auctioned off three new individually signed and framed original polaroids of herself shot by her and Ricardo Gomes in her home, raising over $100,000 for LGBTQ support and advocacy groups Ali Forney Center and Haus of Us in a matter of minutes.

Star Trek’s Zachary Quinto joined Madonna in the auction-off and both pledged to donate $25,000 each. One fan in the crowd even paid $10,000 for a selfie with the pop star to benefit the cause. Other A-list bar-goers in the crowd included Andy Cohen, Christian Siriano, Anderson Cooper, Emily Ratajkowski, Adam Lambert and Lance Bass. 

At around 3:30 a.m., the pop icon even joined the crowd on the dance floor striking poses with fans and dancing with her boyfriend for 30 minutes.

Madonna told to the crowd on top of the bar drinking out of a champagne bottle, why it was important for her to party in person this year after quarantine to celebrate LGBTQ pride.

“I just wanna say also, that to not celebrate pride in a way that I am connected to people has been a tragedy to me,” she revealed. “Many people said don’t do it… you might… you might… you might have fun!”

The singer showed her gratitude towards the city and the LGBTQ community.

“Listen, when I came here there’s only two entities, two energy forces, that I need to thank, that I really need to thank: this f**king city, New York City, and the gay community. Because both of you gave me life and for that, I shall be forever grateful.”

Madonna promoted her original multimedia art installation that projected on a Times Square billboard filmed by Gomes titled “No Fear, Courage, Resist” on her Instagram. The video will be shown at The Standard, High Line for the remainder of Pride month.
