Swift threw Lorde a lavish birthday party earlier this week, at Carbone restaurant in New York City’s Soho neighborhood. The songstresses and the other guests shared the event on their social media. The gathering also included Lena DunhamAziz AnsariKarlie KlossMae WhitmanRachel Antonoff and Mae Whitman.

“Had the best birthday party i’ve ever had tonight surrounded by my nyc family. all organised by tay who is as she says “a mom with no kids.” i am ur kid and u love me so hard i could burst. here’s to our 3 magic years of best friendship and more moments like this squished between angels,” Lorde captioned under one of her posts.

As for Swift, she decided to thank the New Zealander singer, “Thank you for the music you make, the advice you give, the thoughts you provoke, and the way you’ve made my life more beautiful since the first day we met up in New York and ate burgers on a park bench and got attacked by squirrels. I. Love. You. So. Much. Ella. @lordemusic”

Fans have been waiting patiently to the follow-up to the runaway success of her 2013 debut album Pure Heroine.

Recently, the two-time Grammy winner honored David Bowie with a tribute at the 2016 BRIT Awards, recorded and released new songs for the Hunger Games soundtrack and collaborated with Disclosure for their huge track “Magnets.”

On Sunday, a few minutes after midnight, Lorde wrote a long emotional note on her Facebook page, offering an update on her highly anticipated sophomore record.

“And then I wrote a record about it, all of it, so much more than what I’ve written down here, and I’m in new york getting it done. And tomorrow, I’m not a kid any more, and more and more I’m realizing that the weirdness of those Mylar balloons is going to be okay.” she wrote in a post on Facebook.

“Writing Pure Heroine was my way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of me never dies, and this record – well, this one is about what comes next,” she continued. “I want nothing more than to spill my guts RIGHT NOW about the whole thing – I want you to see the album cover, pore over the lyrics (the best I’ve written in my life), touch the merch, experience the live show. I can hardly stop myself from typing out the name. I just need to keep working a while longer to make it as good as it can be. You’ll have to hold on. The big day is not tomorrow, or even next month realistically, but soon. I know you understand.”

Lorde concluded her post,  “the party is about to start. I am about to show you the new world.”

The young singer is expected to drop her upcoming record in Spring 2017, before a world tour and festival dates.
