Donald Trump‘s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), has recently unveiled a new song that has been met with scathing criticism – even from many of her own social media followers.
Last year, Lara previously showcased her musical aspirations with a widely mocked cover of Tom Petty‘s iconic hit, “I Won’t Back Down.” Her latest track, titled “Anything is Possible,” now faces similar derision from internet critics.
The song is an inspirational ballad with lyrics such as “Don’t think, just jump / You can’t give up / Know that anything is possible.”
Numerous X users among Lara’s have not held back in their scrutiny. “‘Anything’ isn’t possible,” quipped one user. “Even auto-tune couldn’t salvage your karaoke-like voice. Just leave us alone and walk away. You have the means to travel anywhere on a private plane with your wealth. True hardworking Americans cannot.”
Another self-identified Florida man suggested, “Can Democrats and Republicans put our differences aside and unite to stop Lara Trump from butchering any more of our favorite songs? This could bring us together in ways we never thought possible!”
While professional music journalists have yet to offer their critiques of Lara’s new single, the Twitter account for the music review website Consequence of Sound responded to the song with a simple image of someone with blood pouring out of their ears.
Earlier this month, Lara was elected co-chair of the RNC after she was dogged by charges of nepotism from the moment her name was floated for the position.
At a South Carolina campaign event, Lara said GOP voters may want to see the RNC pay for Trump’s legal fee if they view his cases as political persecution. “That’s why people are furious right now. And they see the attacks against [Donald Trump]. They feel like it’s an attack not just on Donald Trump but on this country.”
Lara’s song release coincided with a significant fundraising event for Democrats, where $25 million was raised. The event featured President Joe Biden, along with former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
