After 33 days without pay, federal employees are begging President Donald Trump and Congress to end the partial government shut down. However, neither side is bending on Trump’s demands for his border wall.

On Monday, Lara Trump sat down with Bold TV to give her take on the government shut down and immigration reform. When asked what she would say to federal workers who had gone weeks without pay, her response was less than comforting.

“It’s not fair to you and we all get that, but this is so much bigger than any one person,” she said.

Lara Trump, wife of Donald’s second son Eric Trump, continued to dig herself into a hole, offering an explanation for her comment.

“It is a little bit of pain, but it’s going to be for the future of our country, and their children and their grandchildren and generations after them will thank them for their sacrifice,” she said. “Right now, I know it’s hard. I know people have families, they have bills to pay, they have mortgages, they have rents that are due,” she said.

Lara’s attempt to downplay the situation, didn’t sit well with many.

Wednesday morning, hosts of The View discussed the government shut down. Meghan McCain, daughter of late senator John McCain, and co-host Joy Behr seemed to have finally found common ground. The pair usually seen at odds, agreed on their distaste for the Lara Trump interview.

“I just feel like if you are a millionaire’s wife, you may not understand that there are families that can’t afford to feed their children,” co-host Sunny Hostin said.

Speaking over her, Behar added, “But she’s married to him, she knows pain.”

Comedian Chelsea Handler seemed to agree on Twitter.

And, this was hardly the first time Handler has poked fun at the Trump family. In August 2018, she had a brief Twitter fight with Donald Trump Jr. that made headlines.
