Kelly Clarkson, 37, hosted the Billboard Music Awards last Wednesday night only to fly home to Los Angeles immediately after for surgery on her appendix.
The star tweeted, “I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain.”
The star was hosting the show in Las Vegas and despite the pain managed to perform a medley of songs before belting out her newest song “Broken & Beautiful.” However, immediately following the show she flew home to have surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

A rep for the singer confirmed the surgery adding that “she’s doing great.”
Though the Billboard Awards were entertaining, after the show is what really garnered attention. In addition to Clarkson’s surgery, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner wed in a Vegas style ceremony with an Elvis Presley impersonator to officiate the ceremony.
Released in August, Whirlwind marked Wilson’s first top 10 hit on the Billboard 200.
