Kanye West Talks About Being “Bipolar” & Support For Donald Trump [VIDEO]

After Kanye West called slavery something of a “choice” on TMZ Live and showed strong support for President Donald Trump, his controversial persona has yet again been a discussion point for many.

This Friday, he dropped his newest album Ye, in which he discusses his bipolarity. The cover of the album says, “I hate being bi-polar it’s awesome” in lime green handwriting on a background of mountains. Also, West confirmed his “mental condition” in an interview at his listening party in Wyoming.

On his song “Yikes,” the rapper says, “That’s my bipolar s––t/ That’s my superpower n–––a, ain’t no disability.” In the interview, West said his mental illness helps him create all of his music. Later, he said he was diagnosed with a “mental condition” at the age of 39-years-old.

Reflecting on his privilege of being a legendary rapper, West said those also with mental disorders don’t typically have the ability to bounce back from outbursts in their workplaces.

“Think about people who have mental issues that are not Kanye West… think about somebody that does exactly what I did at TMZ but they just do it at work,” West said. “Then Tuesday morning they come back and they lost their job.”

In fact, West made dramatic changes to the album after the incident at TMZ. He took out bars relating to what he said because it was “too sensitive about that topic and stuff.” However, on his track “Wouldn’t Leave,” he does briefly address it:

“I said, ‘Slavery a choice.’ They say, ‘How, Ye?’ /Just imagine if they caught me on a wild day.”

Later in the interview, West discussed why his controversiality has never driven his fans, or the world at large, away from him.

“That’s the reason why the world won’t let me go cause I’m just a family member,” West said. “They might disagree with me on certain s––t, but I’m they family I’ve been here for 15 years, 18 years, and I feel like the best thing I can do is sit there and go in that studio and keep chopping that thing that only I know how to do.”
