John Cena says he doesn’t know if he’ll make it to Wrestlemania this year because of “a lot of good opportunities coming up,” but assured fans that he isn’t at all done with WWE. He briefly returned to the ring last year for a feud with current WWE champion Roman Reigns.
Cena mentioned Wrestlemania on an Ellen interview promoting his HBO Max miniseries Peacemaker. Cena didn’t confirm or deny whether he would be able to make it, but he seemed to hint that he has a significant amount of potential acting work coming down the pipe for the same time period that Wrestlemania takes place.
“Wrestlemania is usually in late March, early April. I don’t know if I’m going to make it this year,” he said. “That’s a good conundrum to have because there are a lot of good opportunities coming up, which I would love to take. If all those things line up, I don’t know if I’ll be able to make Wrestlemania.”
It sounds like if we see Cena in the ring for Wrestlemania 38, it will mean he must have really flubbed some auditions. Even though he is clearly more dedicated to acting at the moment, Cena made it clear that he wasn’t ruling WWE out completely at all.
“I will tell everybody watching, I’m not done with WWE by a long shot. That’s my home, I love it. I was able to go back during the summer for a few months and entertain audiences when they welcome audiences back to arenas and I’ve far from had my last performance,” Cena clarified.
