Jennifer Aniston has once again found herself sharing headlines with ex-husband Brad Pitt and the woman he left her for, Angelina Jolie, following the announcement of their impending divorce yesterday.
After news broke Tuesday afternoon that Jolie had filed for divorce from Pitt, the story dominated the news. Not far behind reports of the shocking split were memes of Aniston as Rachel Green in Friends and in various other roles reacting with amusement.
According to an insider, Aniston’s real life reaction actually did include a mention of karma. “Yeah, that’s karma for you!” Aniston told a longtime friend after hearing about Pitt and Jolie’s divorce, reported Us Weekly.
“She always got the sense that something would happen with them eventually,” the friend added. “She didn’t feel that Angelina was truly the one who Brad was meant to stay with. She always felt that Angelina was too complex for him. He’s a pretty simple guy.”
Though Aniston might sense some poetic justice at work in the divorce, the actress reportedly has never rooted for a split for Jolie and Pitt.
“[Jen] admittedly feels sort of satisfied about Brad and Angelina’s split, [but] never wanted this for them or wished this on them,” a second source told Us. “Jen does wish Brad luck and the best. She feels like she’s happy, and she wants him to be happy too. Jen does not hold on to any negativity from her marriage to Brad.”
Aniston, who was married to Pitt from 2000-2005, is currently happily married to actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux.
