Ivanka Trump has passed on the opportunity to lead the World Bank, after her father asked if she was interested in the position.
President Donald Trump told The Atlantic in an interview, he was considering appointing Ivanka towards the job because “she’s very hood with numbers.”
Ivanka declined the offer saying, “I’m very happy doing the work that I’m doing.”
Ivanka’s work as White House advisers means she provides insight on numerous issues like workforce development, women’s empowerment, and the selection process for the World Bank.
Ivanka and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin led the selection process and brought multiple candidates to the president so he could make his decision. There is a longstanding tradition of having an American selected to lead the World Bank.
David Malpass, who served as Trump’s economic advisor during the 2016 presidential election, was eventually appointed president of the Work Bank by the Trump administration.
