The news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s Montecito home was broken into over Christmas emerged shortly after their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey aired.

The suspect Nikolas Brooks was caught trespassing at the couple’s home on Christmas Eve. He was let off with a warning, but was caught trespassing again on Dec. 26. Police officers arrested him at that time.

Brooks has been charged with one count of misdemeanor trespassing. He allegedly drove all the way from Ohio, but t is unclear what his motive was.

It is unclear if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were home at the time.

This news came to light shortly after Prince Harry revealed to Oprah that his family lost their security after they stepped down as senior members of the Royal family. He also said his family cut him off financially and he had to figure out a way to provide security for his family.

The couple moved into their $14.65 million home this past summer. They chose not to film their interview with Oprah at their home, but showed a clip of the property. The couple plan to put down roots at their current home and raise their son Archie and the baby girl they are expecting this summer.
