Hodgy Beats Mixtape Review: The Dena Tape 2

Odd Future has been very busy in the music scene this year. After Mike G released the Award Tour II EP at the end of January, Hodgy Beats released a free mix tape on Datpiff.com in early February. The mixtape, entitled The Dena Tape 2, is produced almost entirely by DJ Don Cannon.

Another Odd Future project lacking many features, only fellow OF and MellowHigh member Domo Genesis and Hit Boy make guest appearances.

The Tape is relatively brief, at only 12 tracks, but certain tracks such as “Self Titled”, “Hodgy X Doms”, “Miyagi’s Prime” and “Moneyball” (which utilizes the beat from Kendrick Lamar’s “Sing About Me”) really shine. The production by Cannon is on point and Hodgy sounds like he came to play this year with witty punch lines.
