While Game of Thrones is coming to an end on May 19, that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of this universe. HBO is creating three spinoff shows of the popular series, and according to George R. R. Martin, fans have much to look forward to.
Martin updated fans on the status of the spinoffs on his personal blog saying, “We have had five different GAME OF THRONES successor shows in development (I mislike the term “spinoffs”) at HBO, and three of them are still moving forward nicely,” wrote Martin.
“The one I am not supposed to call THE LONG NIGHT will be shooting later this year, and two other shows remain in the script stage, but are edging closer. What are they about? I cannot say. But maybe some of you should pick up a copy of FIRE & BLOOD and come up with your own theories,” continued Martin.
Long Night takes place thousands of years before the events of the show and chronicles the world’s descent from the Age of Heroes to the Long Night. The series will star Naomi Watts and will be written by Jane Goldman.

What the other spinoffs and what they will be about is still a mystery, a show about the Dance of Dragons, the Targaryen civil war, or the Blackfyre Rebellions would truly be something to watch.
