On Tuesday, the attorney representing golf star Rory McIlroy filed a motion to voluntarily dismiss a divorce petition that was filed by McIlroy in a Florida court last month.

The four-time major champion said that he had reconciled with his wife, Erica Stoll, to whom he has been married for seven years. The case is now closed, according to court records.

“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate,” McIlroy told The Guardian. “Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game. Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”

In the Palm Beach County family court filing on May 13, McIlroy’s attorney, Thomas Sasser, wrote that the marriage was irretrievably broken.

McIlroy, the third-ranked golfer in the world, asked for shared parental custody of their three-year-old daughter and for the judge to enforce a prenuptial agreement the couple signed in 2017.

Rumors quickly circulated that he might be dating golf analyst Amanda Balionis after they were seen hugging after an interview.

McIlroy and Stoll met at the 2012 Ryder Cup and started dating two years later, following McIlroy’s relationship with tennis player Caroline Wozniacki. They married in Ireland in 2017.
