David Arquette Hospitalized After Wrestling ‘Death Match’

David Arquette tried his hand at wrestling this week. On Friday, the 47-year-old Wild Bill actor got back in the ring to fight Nick Gage. Arquette had previously wrestled, even winning a WCW Championship in the early 2000s.

It turns out that he had lost a step though. The 47-year-old wound up hospitalized for injuries he sustained in the “wrestling death match.”

On Monday, he put out a statement on Twitter and addressed his injuries.

“As some of you might have seen, last week I was injured in a wrestling death match,” Arquette wrote. “I wanted to make sure to address the photos and videos that have surfaced from the event, as this is not the type of wrestling you watch on TV. I knew it was violent and potentially bloody, but I truly did not know the extent of what I was participating in. However, I take responsibility for putting myself in that situation.”

He also added that “the main reason I got injured was because of my lack of experience – don’t try this at home.” Arquette stated that he didn’t plan on training for another match.

The actor’s wife, Christina McLarty, said, “He’s okay, thank you. After the wrestling match he looked fine, and then [his neck] was irritating him. I don’t know, I didn’t see the whole thing go down.”

Arquette will be released from the hospital sometime before Thanksgiving Day.
