DaBaby Slammed For Deleting Apology to LGBTQ+ Community After Homophobic Rant At Recent Festival

DaBaby has deleted his Instagram apology to the LGBTQ+ community following derogatory comments he made at Rolling Loud Festival on July 25.

His August 2 Instagram apology came after several music festivals removed the rapper from their lineup for his homophobic rant. These festivals included Lollapalooza, Governor’s Ball, Day N Vegas, iHeartRadio Music Festival and Austin City Limits.

DaBaby’s since-deleted Instagram statement read, “I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made. Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I knew education on this is important. Love to all. God bless. – DaBaby.”

Many stars, including Madonna, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus and Elton John, were quick to call out DaBaby for his offensive remarks made on stage where he encouraged his fans to wave their phone lights in the air if they “didn’t show up today with HIV/AIDS or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that will make you die in two to three weeks.”

The English pop singer Lipa, who previously worked with DaBaby, also denounced the rapper on her Instagram story.  “I really don’t recognise this as the person I worked with. I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community,” Lipa wrote. “We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”

Kanye West removed DaBaby from his remix of the single “Nah Nah Nah,” which was released on streaming platforms last year.

Many Twitter users were quick to notice the six-time Grammy-nominated artist’s Instagram post seemingly disappear. Many wondered if his apology was sincere or the result of losing lucrative deals.

“DaBaby only apologized to get DaBag back. When that didn’t happen he’s retracting the apology,” wrote one user. “Further proof it wasn’t genuine. He said what he said initially. That’s what he believes. SMH.”

“Anybody with a brain knows DaBaby deleted his ‘apology’ because he didn’t write it himself and didn’t give a f*** in the first place,” wrote another user.

DaBaby’s July 27 Twitter apology remains visible on his page.
