Chris Darden To Defend Eric Holder In Nipsey Hussle Murder Case

Chris Darden, OJ’s former prosecutor, is now the defense attorney for 29-year-old Eric Holder, who has been charged with the murder of rapper Nipsey Hussle.

The tense setting of the case is nothing new to lawyer Darden, who 20 years ago, worked for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, and had to convince a jury that O.J. Simpson was guilty of brutally murdering his ex wife and another man.

The trial was riddled with racial overtones and many labeled him a “race traitor” and other observers blamed his courtroom strategy for Simpson’s ultimate acquittal.

Now, defending Holder, Darden is once again being vilified by those in the black community.

The bail for Holder has been set at $5 million. Darden was unsuccessful in getting the judge to bar cameras from the courtroom during the hearing, and he did not fight the bail amount. And according to prosecutor John McKinney said, “it was his understanding that Darden had been privately retained for Holder.”

This time around, black Twitter came hard at Darden as news spread about his hard, and infamous client.

 

Darden wrote a book in 1996, In Contempt, which came after Simpson was acquitted. His father warned him of taking on the O.J case detailed in the book.

“You’ll catch hell if you work on that one,” his father said. “There’ll be hell to pay, you work on that one.”

And it seems, once again Darden is ready to take on a case that puts him in a not so favorable position in public opinion.
