Chiefs’ Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Gets Engaged To Girlfriend Brittany Matthews

On September 1, Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes proposed to his girlfriend of eight years, Brittany Matthews. The proposal immediately followed a ceremony at Arrowhead Stadium, home to the Chiefs, in which Mahomes and the rest of the team received their Super Bowl championship rings. Matthews posted pictures of her and Mahomes on Instagram shortly after, captioned, “On a day that was meant to celebrate you, you turned it into celebrating us.”

The proposal may have also been a birthday gift to Matthews – just a day earlier, on August 31, she celebrated her 25th birthday with Mahomes, which he posted about on both Twitter and Instagram.

Mahomes and Matthews’ engagement did not come as a surprise – the couple had been together since March 2012, back before Mahomes’ football stardom while he was still on his high school baseball team.

For years, Matthews had been Mahomes’ cheerleader, regularly posting about him on her Instagram and celebrating both his baseball and football wins.

Matthews has been attending Mahomes’ games ever since, even enduring harassment from fans to support him, posting that fans could never keep her away.
