BMX & X Games Star Pat Casey Dies In Motorcycle Accident During Competition At 29

BMX star Pat Casey has died at 29 years old during a competition while performing a stunt. 

He was a three-time medalist for the X-Games and a BMX star. 

He died after riding his motorcycle during a competition and was hurled off his motorcycle after losing control. After he fell off, the motorcycle landed on him. 

When paramedics got to him he no longer had a pulse and had stopped breathing. Paramedics attempted to save his life for 55 minutes before declaring him dead. 

Authorities are still investigating Casey’s death. 

He leaves behind his wife, Chase, and two children, Reid and Taytum.

The X Games Instagram account posted a photo memorializing Casey. In the photo, he is holding a medal and they captioned it: “We are deeply saddened by Pat Casey’s passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, children, parents and siblings. A true legend in the action sports community, Pat will always be a member of the X Games family and an inspiration to everyone’s life he touched.” 

USA Cycling also posted their condolences on Twitter stating: “We are saddened to hear about the passing of BMX legend Pat Casey. Pat was a member of our inaugural BMX Freestyle National Team in 2018 and made his mark immeasurably on the BMX community. Our condolences go to his family and friends.” 

Casey first started riding professionally when he was just 14 years old. 

He won his first medal in the X Games in 2012 when he received third place at the BMX Freestyle Park event. In 2013, he competed in BMX Air in Brazil and received second place. He won his first gold medal in 2021 for the men’s BMX Dirt Summer Games.

Casey’s most recent post on Instagram was five days ago. It featured a video of Casey riding his motorcycle and performing multiple stunts. Hundreds of fans have offered their condolences in the comment section.
