The hit show The Big Bang Theory just got a big renewal deal from CBS and Warner Bros Television for two more seasons.
This will take the top-rated comedy series through Season 12, with its first season starting since 2007. CBS announced the exciting news on Monday. The Big Bang Theory has consistently ranked as one of the two most popular shows on television when new episodes are aired. Its competition has been NCIS.
Producers have agreements with actors Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar. Rumors have been circulating that Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch are expected to sign on for the additional seasons as well.
Bialik and Rauch both became regular cast members during the show’s fourth season, and have made around $175,000 – $200,000 per episode. The original five regular cast members, on the other hand, received around $1 million per episode.
The last time the network renewed the show, it picked up three seasons simultaneously. The series has earned the Warner Brother Television show more than $1 billion.
This news of the renewal comes hot on the heels of CBS’s announcement that it will also launch a prequel to the show, to be called Young Sheldon. It’ll follow Sheldon’s character when he was nine years old. Parsons will also help in narrating the series.
