Ariana Grande Will Not Be Attending Grammys After Disagreements With Producers

Ariana Grande has reportedly pulled out of performing at the 61st Grammy Awards ceremony due to a disagreement with Grammy producers over which songs she would perform.

Since the Grammy’s, which is set to take place on Sunday, February 10, began promotion, Grande has appeared on billboards across the United States.

According to Variety, Grande felt “insulted” by producers after they initially refused to allow her to perform her new hit single “7 Rings” from her forthcoming album Thank U, Next, which is set to be released on Friday. But after coming to a compromise, they gave Grande an ok to perform the single as part of a medley, but Grande completely pulled out after producers insisted that they would choose the second song of her performance. The source also added that such stipulations were not placed on other performers at the show.

At this year’s Grammys, the pop singer was nominated in two major categories, including Best Pop Vocal Performance for “God Is a Woman” and Best Pop Vocal Album for Sweetener.

As for the award show itself, the Grammys have not only lost a two time-nominated artist who they have been using to promote the show, but they also lost one of the most anticipated artists of the moment. As just within the past two years Grande has experienced two major tragedies including the 2017 bombing of  her concert and the UK’s Manchester Arena in which 22 people died and the death of her former boyfriend Mac Miller, who died of a drug-overdose last September.

Just over the past couple of months, Grande has smashed streaming service records by breaking the record for most plays within a 24-hour period totaling nearly 15 million streams for her album, Sweetener and singles “Thank U, Next,” and “7 Rings.”

50 CELEBRITIES WHO DIED IN 2018 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW

This isn’t the first time a singer has pulled out of the award show, as just last year Lorde canceled her performance altogether after Grammy producers told the singer that she wouldn’t be allowed to perform a song from her second album Melodrama, which at the time was nominated for Album of the Year, and instead insisted that she perform a Tom Petty tribute.
