My Playlist For Lindsay

More bad news for Lindsay Lohan – she won’t be release any time this week. And with only two hours out of the cell per day, she’s going to be spending a lot of time doing a whole lot of nothing. But while the chances of her following in the footsteps of Gandhi and writing a book are slim to none, she will probably have time to listen to some tunes. Below is a playlist that I’ve created for the troubled starlet to pass the time.

"Piece of Me" – Britney Spears

LiLo and Ms. Spears share a lot in common: both rose to fame at a very young age and had a lot of trouble growing up in the spotlight. But America’s favorite pop-star, 28, is four years Lindsay’s senior and could have a lot to teach the little one. While Brit never made it to prison, she did suffer from drug and psychological problems in 2008 and since then has appeared to make a successful recovery with a successful album and an even more successful world tour. Lindsay has a lot to learn from Britney.

"Father of Mine" – Everclear

Most troubled teens blame the parents for their misfortunes, but in the case of Linds, her parents really do suck. Her mother Dina has been accused of using her daughter’s fame to her own advantage (creating reality shows and stealing her Carvel black card) while her estranged father Michael has rounded the talk show circuit talking about how much he grieves for her daughter instead of taking his family out of the limelight.

"Rehab" – Amy Winehouse

This one’s pretty simple, both should go to rehab but neither really want to go.

"The Fame" – Lady Gaga

This Gaga tune from her debut album didn’t make it as a single but really highlights the problems that come with Hollywood stardom. The first two lines seem to describe young Hollywood, and Lindsay, pretty well –  "I can’t help myself/I’m addicted to a life of material."

"Miss World" – Hole

Courtney Love, like Lindsay, may be better known for her crazy offstage antics than her music career but the former Mrs. Cobain has battled drug addiction for decades. She has had many ups and downs throughout the years but recently released a new record and is currently embarking on a tour. Love, who has been called "the most controversial woman in rock" by Rolling Stone has had a lasting career writing songs about her stubble with fame, drugs, and the death of her husband.

"Folsom Prison Blues" – Johnny Cash

When Johnny Cash penned his first song in the 1950s he hadn’t actually served any time. The song peaked at number 1 in the Billboard country chart and 32 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and later became one of Cash’s signature songs. The song recounts the crime a man committed that landed him in jail and how he longs to be free. While this song is a little more serious than Lindsay’s experiences, she wasn’t arrested for murder and is only spending two weeks in jail, but we all know she has a penchant for being overdramatic.

"Lucky" – Britney Spears

Released in 2001, this single may have been Spears’ first cry for help and as mentioned before, Spears and Lohan have lived quite a similar life. In this ballad Spears sings about the loneliness that happens despite being a successful celebrity.

"Papa Don’t Preach" – Madonna

Another jab at Michael Lohan, Lindsay’s dad has been preaching how she should live her life via tabloids for years. From her relationship with Samantha Ronson to her alleged drug addiction, Michael just doesn’t know how to keep his mouth shut.
