Troian Bellisario is an American actress. She is best known for her role in the television show Pretty Little Liars and such films as Feed, Where’d You Go, Bernadette and Doula.
Troian Bellisario was born in Los Angeles on October 28, 1985 (Troian Bellisario: age 37). Her parents are producers Donald P. Bellisario and Deborah Pratt. Her father created such series as Magnum P.I., Quantum Leap and NCIS.
Bellisario attended Campbell Hall School from kindergarten through twelfth grade, where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class. She went on to pursue her education at the University of Southern California, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts.
When asked by uInterview how she first got interested in acting, Bellisario replied surprisingly that she actually was not that interested in it.
“The funny thing about this is that my very first acting experience, I decided not to be an actor,” Bellisario laughed. “I was very fortunate in that I really wanted to be an actor, and I was four at the time, and my parents created Quantum Leap and so they wrote a role for me, and I was doing it, and after I finished the episode, I got an agent, and all the sudden more calls started coming in, and I actually turned to my parents and I was like ‘I actually didn’t like memorizing all those lines, I didn’t have fun, I don’t want to do it.’ And they were like, ‘Really? Are you serious? This is just about to start happening.’ So that was hilariously one of my first experiences and it was also one of my favorite memories…”
Bellisario began her career in 1988 at the age of three when she was cast in her father’s thriller Last Rites. In 1990, she appeared in an episode of the hit television series Quantum Leap. In 1998, Bellisario co-starred with fellow actresses Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson in the comedy Billboard Dad.
Starting in the early 2000s and continuing throughout her career, Bellisario has acted in several independent short films.
In 2015, she was cast in the lead role in the thriller film Martyrs.
In 2017, Bellisario wrote, produced, and starred in her movie Feed. The drama film deals with Bellisario’s own experiences suffering from an eating disorder.
In 2009, Bellisario was cast as Spencer Hastings in the teen television series Pretty Little Liars. The show, a mystery and thriller, follows the lives of five teenage girls tied together by a missing friend and a series of scary anonymous messages that they all receive.
The series ran for seven seasons, from 2010 to 2017, with Bellisario starring in it throughout its run. The massive success of the show fostered a large fanbase for it and its actors, and also inspired three spin-off series for the franchise.
The entirety of Pretty Little Liars is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
Bellisario most recently starred in the 2022 comedy Doula. The film, in which she appears alongside Arron Shiver and Will Greenberg, follows Bellisario’s character, Deb, as she attempts to reconcile herself to her midwife’s son handling her pregnancy after her midwife passes away.
The movie, produced by actor Chris Pine, is a chronicle of the journey of modern pregnancy. In an exclusive interview with uInterview, Bellisario spoke about why she loved Doula‘s portrayal of the negative aspects of pregnancy along with the positive ones.
“It wasn’t just like the way a lot of film and television and social media presents pregnancy, which is ‘Oh this is so beautiful, it’s just me and my bump and I’m loving every minute of it,'” the actress disclosed. “It’s like, ‘No, I might not be loving every minute of it, I might be so lost and confused in all of this, and not know who I am or how I’m going to be a mom, and that scares the shit out of me.’ And that was what I loved so much about this script, was that it just validated that part of it for me.”

Bellisario began dating Suits costar Patrick J. Adams after the pair met on the set of a play in 2009. After years of dating, the couple married on December 10, 2016 in Santa Barbara, California. Together they have two daughters.
