James Harvey Kennedy was born on May 25, 1970 (Jamie Kennedy age: 51) in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Kennedy has five siblings; he has one older brother and four older sisters. His family is Catholic. Kennedy graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1988 and moved to Los Angeles shortly after to pursue an acting career.
Kennedy made his film debut as an extra in Dead Poets Society. Kennedy initially struggled to find roles in Hollywood, and eventually decided to act as his own agent, using the pseudonym Marty Power. He booked his next role in 1994 for the TV series VR Troopers and later appeared in California Dreams in the same year. In 1996, he portrayed Sampson in Baz Luhrmann‘s Romeo + Juliet, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.
Kennedy came to mainstream attention for his performance as Randy Meeks in the Scream film series. He appeared in Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997) and Scream 3 (2000). In 1998, he won the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Supporting Actor in the horror division for his role in Scream 2.

Kennedy noted the difficulty of 2020 and shared that he hoped comedy could provide relief for watchers who might be feeling overwhelmed. “I think a comic’s job is to let some airs out of tires,” he told uInterview. What, for Kennedy, is the role of a comic? “A good comic is a voice of society to hold a mirror up to itself. This special has a little bit of that, but it’s a lot more fun escape.”
