Ally Brooke is an American singer and actress. She is best known as a member of the band Fifth Harmony.
Ally Brooke was born on July 7, 1993 (Ally Brooke: age 29), in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to parents Jerry Hernandez and Patricia Castillo six weeks early, and only weighed one pound and 14 ounces at her birth. Brooke received her elementary school education at Cornerstone Christian Elementary School, and was homeschooled through high school.
Speaking exclusively to uInterview, Brooke revealed how her start in the music industry paralleled the careers of the characters in her new movie, High Expectations.
“I’ve been singing for so long now, and really kind of, you know, worked my butt off to really be where I am, and I, too, faced a lot of obstacles similar to Taylor’s character and Sophia’s in a way,” the singer disclosed. “You know, one door led to another and being where I am is just pretty stellar.”
Brooke auditioned for The X Factor, the famous reality television music competition, in 2012. Though Brooke was eliminated in the bootcamp round of the show, she was brought back along with fellow contestants Camila Cabello, Lauren Jauregui, Normani and Dinah Jane. Together, the five singers formed the now world-famous girl group Fifth Harmony.
Though Fifth Harmony came in third place on The X Factor that season, after the show ended, they were immediately signed to Syco Music and Epic Records. They released their first EP, Better Together, in 2013, and then went on to release three full studio albums over the next three years. On March 19, 2018, Fifth Harmony announced an indefinite hiatus.
Brooke released her official debut single “Low Key” on January 31, 2019. In May of that year, she also released the single “Lips Don’t Lie.”
In September of 2019, Brooke competed on the 28th season of Dancing with the Stars, where she finished in third place. In January 2020, Brooke announced the Time to Shine Tour, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On October 13, 2020, Brooke released her memoir, Finding Your Harmony, which covers everything from her childhood to her career during and after Fifth Harmony.
In 2022, Brooke starred in the inspirational drama film High Expectations.
Sitting down with uInterview, Brooke spoke about what the experience of transitioning from music to acting was like for her.
“I’ve been on auditions for a long time, I wanted to be in films, and this film came to me and when I read the script, I remember I was just moved to tears,” the singer revealed. “I loved it, what it was about, it was so inspirational and moving and heartfelt. So I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time, and when I actually did it, I felt the nerves, but having Taylor and our director there to really guide me was so sweet and in ways it felt natural. It was all of those things, I just had such a great experience.”
Brooke is a Christian, and has been outspoken about her commitment to wait to lose her virginity until marriage.
She is the celebrity ambassador for March of Dimes, a charity organization which works towards preventing premature birth and birth defects.
Brooke has been dating manager Will Bracey since 2019.
