Kim Kardashian-West, the reality television star and wife to Kanye West, has received major social media backlash after posting several photos of her 40th birthday celebration. Kardashian depicted herself along with large, maskless groups of friends and family posing on a private beach with no obvious signs of social distancing.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has been lambasted on Twitter after sharing images of her private island birthday party in Tahiti. Kardashian-West shared several images depicting her with siblings, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian and a host of other close relatives and friends. One caption read, “40 and feeling so humbled and blessed. There is not a single day that I take for granted, especially during these times when we are all reminded of the things that truly matter. For my birthday this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to spend it than with some of the people who have helped shaped me into the woman I am today.”
Kardashian-West tried downplaying her guest’s violation of quarantine procedures by saying all attendees were tested and would quarantine once more upon returning home before bragging about the night’s events, claiming she desired at night of simulated normalcy. The media mogul then bragged, “We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach, and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is,” leading to many chastise her.

Kelechi Okafor, the British actor, thought it right to knock her down a few pegs by replying to the Kardashian matriarch’s most recent post with, “Happy birthday. I hope someone got you an alphabet book as a gift, so you can learn to read the room.”
Though the 40-year-old has not responded as of yet, she did recently post another remorseless tweet of her embracing her sisters with the caption, “Girls just wanna have sun.”
