Gigabyte Aero 15 Review: A Powerful, Yet Heavy Machine

Laptops dedicated to gaming are an established niche, and one manufacture is trying to branch out with their latest offering. The Gigabyte Aero 15 commends itself on supplying gamers with the cutting-edge tech they need while also providing a professional device for work.

GIGABYTE AREO 15 REVIEW

As with most computers these days, the Aero 15 runs Windows 10 Home as its operating system. A 15.6-inch screen adorns the machine, which renders 1920 x 1080 pixels. Notably, the Aero 15 weights 4.6 pounds, which is rather heavy for today’s standards.

In terms of its horsepower, the Aero 15 is up to par with the current standards. The internal components of the laptop consist of a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card, an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Gigabyte’s latest machine boasts of its screen’s diverse color pallet and, indeed, it does look nice.

Speaking of colors, the RGB backlit keyboard is programable, meaning users can “personalize any key with macro and an RGB lighting from a panel of more than 16.8 million colors and maximize your productivity.” The device has three USB 3.0 ports, one USB-C port and one Thunderbolt 3 port built into its aluminum frame, and video output supports mini-DisplayPort or HDMI.

The Aero 15 also prides itself on its battery life which can last up to ten hours. However, active use of more intensive programs will drop the battery life to closer to six or seven hours. When it comes time to refuel, the laptop’s dedicated power adapter is used. It does, however, have its own built-in USB port “for quick charging capabilities.”

Two colorations are available: black and orange. The power of the Aero 15 necessitated the tragically heavy build, yet there’s a quallity laptop here if you can endure that issue. Also, an enhanced UHD 4K iteration of the Aero 15 is slated to release later this year. More details concerning that model will come later.
