The latest Chromebook from Asus entered the market recently, offering another option in a crowded field. However, the Asus Chromebook Flip C302 is the company’s first attempt at a premier product in the Chromebook sector. How does it hold up?
While bulkier than its predecessor, Asus’s first Flip, the C302 clocks in at only 2.65 pounds. Ultimately, however, a selling point regarding its build is its 12.5-inch screen. Not only is it touch-enabled with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, but its 360-degree hinge allows you to maneuver it for use as a laptop or tablet.
While its aesthetics aren’t groundbreaking, the Flip C302’s design isn’t unappealing. Moreover, its larger design allows for a bigger, more comfortable keyboard.
Regarding its specs, this Chromebook is better endowed than the Flip it’s succeeding. The battery will keep for about ten hours, which is a fair amount of time. An Intel Core Processor, the m3-6Y30, powers the device, and the built-in 64GB storage should be appealing given the C302’s compatibility with the Google Play Store. Unfortunately, according to the experience of Engadget’s reviewer, apps that would normally look fine on an Android weren’t calibrated for the C302’s larger screen.
Asus also boasts how it only takes 3.5 seconds for the C302 to boot up upon turning it on. Moreover, the C302 has a USB 3.1 Type-C port, which can be utilized to charge your machine or swiftly transmit data while remaining “future-proof for years to come.” However, the only other inputs are a Micro SD card slot and an audio jack, which is fairly sparse.
An Asus Chromebook Flip C302 is $499.00, although some retailers offer it at a modest discount.
