Almost Christmas, starring Paul Rudd, Paul Giamatti and Sally Hawkins, and directed by Phil Morrison is one of the most highly anticipated films of the Tribeca Film Festival.
Rudd and Giamatti, both emanate likeable personalities in films past, managing to deftly weave their natural dry wit into agreeable characters across genres. Joining them, is British actress, Hawkins, who earned an Academy Award for her turn as a quirky elementary school teacher learning to drive in Happy-Go-Lucky.
In Almost Christmas, Rudd and Giamatii play two schemers from Canada, Rene and Dennis, who make their way down to New York City to sell Christmas trees. Although joined in the business venture, the pair clashes on the subject of Dennis’ wife (Hawkins) who Rene stole.
Morrison, who’s helming the project, is best known for directing Amy Adams in her breakout role in Junebug. This is his first feature since the 2005 indie film.
