‘Goodfellas’ Screening And Panel With Director Martin Scorsese To Close Tribeca Film Festival
Goodfellas 25th anniversary will close the Tribeca Film Festival on April 25, with a cast reunion hosted by The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart.
Goodfellas Celebrates 25th Anniversary
Director Martin Scorsese has remastered the iconic gangster film for Goodfellas’ 25th anniversary. “I was so excited to learn that this picture, now 25 years old, would be closing this year’s Tribeca Film Festival. Excited and moved. It was an adventure to get it on screen…So it’s heartening to know that Goodfellas has come to mean so much to so many people. It’s wonderful to see one of your pictures revived and re-seen, but to see it closing Tribeca, a festival of new movies, means the world to me,” Scorsese said of the celebration.
Scorsese is said to attend the post-screening reunion with Goodfellas star and Tribeca Film Fest co-founder Robert De Niro. “I was most proud of this film 25 years ago, and equally proud of it now. I’m very happy that it is our closing night film,” said De Niro in a statement.
The screening and panel, set to take place at the Beacon Theatre on Saturday, April 25, precedes the release of a special anniversary Blu-ray and DVD release of Goodfellas, which features a new documentary on the film with interviews with De Niro, Ray Liotta, Leonardo DiCaprio and Harvey Keitel.
