Lady Gaga Has Woman Puke On Her During SXSW Performance

Lady Gaga performed her concert at SXSW Thursday night, treating the audience to her signature strangeness, including having a woman throw up on her during the performance.

The shocking incident occurred during Gaga’s hour-long performance on Doritos’ Bold Stage, during which Gaga played mostly from her newest album Artpop and only sung two of her hits – “Bad Romance” and “Applause.” Before her performance of “Swine” – the puke performance – Gaga took to the stage to send a message to her audience, saying, “Let’s f—king celebrate! This is the moment now! I won’t play by your f—king rules this is our world!”

During the song, Gaga, looking uncharacteristically made down, with long dreadlocks, little makeup and wearing only a black bikini and white apron, sat down at the drums and began banging away. A woman, Millie, then walked on stage and chugged what appears to be a bottle of green liquid before leaning over and throwing up the green goo over Gaga’s chest. Later in the performance, the woman repeated the action, this time with a thick black liquid. Most of the puke got on the apron, but Gaga was covered in black liquid for the rest of her performance.

Gaga is known for her outlandish performance art, and her performance at SXSW certainly lived up to her reputation. After her performance, Gaga took to Twitter to thank her audience and perhaps even offer a small explanation for her odd performance, writing, “Creative Rebellion is ARTPOP. Release yourself from expectation.”

“Swine” was the theme of the evening, with a light up sign onstage that read “Lady Gaga’s Haus of Swine.”

After her set, Gaga returned for a short encore, requesting that audience members put their cell phones and gadgets away and to connect with each other.

“I think we should just take this one moment and do that thing where you put your phones away and you just look at each other and just be right here. When you die, nobody is going to give a f—k what you tweeted or what picture you posted or what you caught. They’re not gonna care how famous I was, they’re gonna care about whose lives you saved, what people you touched…Don’t let the machine and technology take you to a place you don’t belong,” Gaga said – a statement she emphasized during her SXSW keynote on Friday.

Gaga then broke into an emotional rendition of “Gypsy,” which she dedicated to those affected by the tragic drunk-driving accident that left two dead and over 20 wounded.
